We do have a few ground rules before you share your submissions:
1. You must include your name with your submission so we know who to contact if any legal issues arise. If you would like for your opinion to be shared anonymously, just let us know and we will not publicly disclose your name to our readers. We are offering anonymity as a free pass from being judged by your peers, however, it will not be allowed to be used as a "get out of jail free card."
2. We will not share anything we deem to be personal attacks or defamatory, whether the opinion pieces are anonymous or not. We believe in posting with integrity. Please keep your pieces on topic and professional. These piece will be evaluated by our team and if we feel they will display Talk Piqua in a negative light, we may refuse to publish them. As always, Talk Piqua has no specific agenda and we will share opinions on various topics and from all different perspectives.
3. We are not professional fact checkers. Please verify your claims are factual before making them. If we are contacted for sharing false and/or potentially defamatory claims, we will comply with the requests of the legal teams and/or authorities investigating said claims. If we see anything claiming to be fact that doesn't appear to be so, we may refuse to publish it out of an abundance of caution.
4. We will not make any substantial edits to submitted content. If we see basic typographical errors, we will make every effort to try to fix them whenever possible, but if it could potentially result in changing the context, we will leave it as submitted. Our goal is for your opinion piece to appear exactly as written aside from any typos that were made.It has been mentioned in the past that people are fearful to speak up at various city meetings because of the mob mentality they believe some of the citizens have. This is your opportunity to stand up on your soapbox and speak up without fear of being booed or retaliated against.
If you are looking more for a discussion than an article, you are also welcome to post your piece in our Community Hub where people can comment and discuss your post.
We would like to encourage everyone to participate and let your voice be heard!
